Build From Your Point of View

This is the thing that makes you, you, or your business, you. A wonderful African author told us that only we can tell our stories. Now this sounds very wishy-washy because, well, it is, but I think it really applies to how we work with people. If you’re working with a team or an agency that is coming in to find out or provide solutions for any business problems that you have, they need your input. They need you to tell them where you’re having problems. You need to be able to explain your point of view because, at the end of the day, no one knows your business as much as you do.

These might be subject matter experts, they might be consultants or advisors. They come in with all the recommendations, everything that they think they can do that might help your business. You have to tell them the problems you’re facing, your workflows, your processes. You have to be willing to give them everything, answer their questions, and provide this insight. It’s like going to a doctor. You’re not lying to your doctor, so you won’t lie to them, you won’t keep things from them, you’ll be transparent, let them know about everything that’s going on, and you’ll try to work together to provide a solution.
