A Self-Audit

When I’m reaching out to businesses, or they reach out to me, I always encourage them, if they are not ready to proceed at the moment, to carry out a self-audit. It’s a self-audit to check what is in place, if they are meeting the goals that they set at the beginning of the quarter or at the beginning of the year. What should their tools be doing that they aren’t? Or are they meeting all these expectations?

A self-audit is just to look at who is using things. Are they using them? Do they have a lot of tools that they should not be paying subscriptions for? You know, this is something that is often overlooked.

I’ve had this problem with someone who was paying for Zapier for close to two years and was not even aware of it. You have businesses keeping four, five, or six tools that 80% of their team haven’t even logged into in months.

The purpose of the self-audit is to look at all of these things and identify what needs to change. Just clean it up a little. It’s going to take an hour or a few hours. Clean it up, and if you’re not able to do it, you can assign it to someone on your team who can look at it, make sure that everything is in order, and ensure that everything is all good.
