What is the best way to handle the empty state in a no-code app? Let’s say with something like Softr. When people log in and, let’s say it’s a custom project management tool, they simply have a list of tasks that they need to update. But when all their tasks are finished, it’s just an empty state. What do we do in this situation? We don’t want to have an empty screen where our users have nothing to do, so we want to be able to redirect them somewhere they can carry out another activity. Now, all this boils down to what people are supposed to be doing on these tools and how we can redirect them to another activity. What activity are we redirecting them to? What comes after all the tasks have been completed? Are there any activities that are not so time-pressing? Is there anything else they need to do? Can they check updates? Can we redirect them to documentation or resources that they can choose to go through?
We cannot simply leave them with an empty state. Or, if they search for something and nothing comes up, what do we do? These are all user behaviors that we need to understand, study, and see how we can create a more productive environment for our people to use.
