I talk a lot about reducing features, and sometimes I think the point just flies over people’s heads. And you don’t want that. You have to figure out a way to have these multiple features without letting them become separate things. You use these multiple features to reach a goal. You’re bringing them together. You have to figure out a better way to combine them so they produce the best result. Let these features complement each other. I’m not going to go very deep into everything, but I’ll give you an example. Okay. You have certain automations. You have payments coming in. You have all of these things. These features cannot act independently. It’s like when you go on Shopify. They have this free tools area, which is not very good. They have this free tools area where you can generate a business slogan, a business name, terms and conditions, or a privacy policy. All of these work separately. You do not want your features to work that way, especially for your internal tools.
What you need is a way to make them work together. Now, how do you do that? Let’s say you’re building a CRM. Of course, for a CRM, you have loads of features that are possible. You could have calling built into it. You could have a way to track users. You could have a way to collect addresses and phone numbers. There are a lot of features; I can’t even list them all. So you can’t just have all of them sitting on one page. You don’t want one page just for getting users, another page just for calling them, then another page just to record notes, where people have to keep moving, moving, moving. Since you want so many features, you have to find a way to organize them. You’re still going to have those features on that particular page, but you’re making them work together. When we get the address, we can easily move to the call. When we make the call, we can easily record the details we got from that call. Everything is connected. All of those features are working together. You have to figure out a way to make everything work together. If they don’t work together, it’s just a lot of nonsense.
